DEMOLITION WORK STARTS
The process of stripping out the building is almost complete. Next, the visible demolition work at the riverbank site can begin.
With the strip-out work and the breeding period of certain species concluded, the diggers will now deploy to Spandauer Ufer. Dismantling of the physical structures will start on 9 October. The first milestone will be the demolition of the main post office on Klosterstrasse. The works will extend over a considerable period of time in small instalments because the telephone switchboard operated by Telekom next door means that vibrations should be kept to a minimum.
With the kind support of Spandau Arcaden, a web cam was installed that will transmit live images of the demolition work when the time comes (see previous post, dated 15 July 2017). The images are transmitted in ten-minute intervals.
